It really is fantastic

If you like text-based adventure games then this is a must-have. Even if you dont this is worth getting; its a cut above the rest. My only complaint is that it has chewed up hours of my time because Ive been so engrossed in it. Its fantastically well-written and the detail and richness of its world keep pulling me back in to try new routes or retry old ones with new choices. Better on iPad than iPhone. Ok for kids like 10 and up, there are some suggestive bits of dialogue but rarely and its tame, and no swearing or real violence.

Brilliant!!

This game package is absolutely FABULOUS! As engaging and full of fun as the text-based games of the 80s like Zork, Enchanter, etc. Love the writing, the humour, and the variety of the entire package. Bravo, inkle!!

Best in category

Ive played the majority of the gamebooks on the App store, and this is by far the best. Youre not out to save the world. Youre not fighting orcs or blasting aliens to save the world. Instead youre simply travelling around the world, seeing amazing sights and getting caught up in strange adventures. There is a goal of finishing the journey in 80 game days in order to win a bet, but thats not really a hard limit. The goal is to have a great journey, and this one is certainly great indeed.

A must-buy for Holiday Delight

Ive been sitting with friends and family to play, and play, and play this game so more. Lovely for children, adults, and the "old sods" alike. Buy it for an educational, highbrow, delightfully profound experience over and over and over again!

Please fix cant play

I would love to give this game a great rating, unfortunately it crashes seconds into reading the first sentence. Please help, so I can play this game. Or at least a full refund. Thank you.

Superb

Easily worth the money, it seems like there are unlimited possibilities with the story

Disappointed

Great premise but less than exciting implementation. Small text and slow pace is a bore. Too bad. Goodbye $5.

Great Casual Game

Light fun. Its easy to pick up and put down. Lots of different ways to experience it; though it wont take long to play through the first time. It really is ideal for iOS, working particularly adeptly on iPhone.

Genius!

Excellent new take on the interactive novel. I beg you for a centre of the earth!

Magnificent!!!

A delicious treat for lovers of steampunk and classic literature, especially those who grew up on "Choose Your Own Adventure". The finest example of a text-based game I have ever encountered. Like reading a great book thats a different story every time! More like this please!

Great game!

A fabulous game with a compelling narrative and endless adventures. The diverse encounters with other characters are well scripted and it is fascinating to guess which of those encounters will prove significant later in the journey!

Steampunk Verne

Love the gameplay, LOVE the content, originality and writing style. Just finished successfully, and will probably continue to try more circumnavigation, just to hear more of the tales and intrigue. You should turn this into a book series! (assuming the original is now public domain?)

Igniting your wanderlust

Extraordinary!

Just excellent

Simple mechanics, a simple premise, and wonderfully executed. This game takes you on an amazing journey of your own choosing, set in a world that you really want to explore and learn more about. There are so many great little side trips and diversions and things to discover that my only complaint is having to finish in eighty days. Its pretty much perfect and goes to show that gikd writing and good design are worth infinitely more than crazy graphics and explosions. Cannot rate highly enough for virtually anyone.

Surprising!

I bought 80 days on a whim, being a great Jules Verne fan and of course also enamoured by all things "Steampunk". And I must say, I was very pleasantly surprised! This is definitely a good interactive novel - in fact, I believe this is certainly a most ingenious way of presenting an interactive book, reminiscent of the "Choose your adventure" from the 70s and 80s. Graphically minimalistic but of high quality. The user interface takes a bit getting used to, but I find that part of the games challenge and charm, so actually a plus. Played thru four times, won twice, and found no issues whatsoever to date on my iPad 3rd generation. would recommend to any fan of Jules Verne who likes to read, while also choosing their own path thru a story.

Absolutely Brilliant!

One of the best games I have played in the past few years.

The best game on iOS!!!!

This is my favourite game on my iPad every time you play you find new ways to travel the world a whole new story. apart from a few repetitive events if you use the same travel like the American train robbery its a great game!!

Addictive, Brilliant, Beautiful

This is one of the best exploration games Ive played on any device. The writing is fantastic, the mechanics are simple but addictive, the design is classy and beautiful, and the replayability/expansiveness is through the roof. Its the perfect mobile experience. Thank you!

Amazing

An extremely enjoyable choose your own adventure game that you can replay many times!

Top 10 all-time iOS game

An absolute fantastic game that blends Vernes work with the elegant gameplay of Oregon Trail. Smart and imaginative, with great gameplay and sharp writing.
